Plant a tree, think of me
The Exchange Club of Greater Newburyport will once again be supporting the April observance of National Prevention of Child Abuse with a give-away of information and free Concolor Fir seedlings at the Newburyport Market Basket on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Children are much the same as a tree seedling. Initially they are fragile and helpless, yet with the right environment, food, warmth and caring, they will grow and prosper and make a difference in this world.
The Exchange Club offers college scholarships at three local high schools, sets up flags for the 1st Lt. Derek Hines 5K road race on Flag Day, hosts “Kids Day in the Park” during Yankee Homecoming, presents the “Field of Honor” on the Bartlet Mall in September, escorts clients of a local adult care facility on a fall harbor tour, throws a holiday party for several local group homes and offers financial donations and hands-on help for other local causes.
The club welcomes new members. Come learn more about these activities and volunteer opportunities available throughout the year. Demands for local services will only be increasing. What better way to give back to the community than with one’s own time and talent.
