As one of our annual community service activities, the Exchange Club recently sponsored and escorted adult day care clients from Sarah’s Place on our 26th annual Harbor Tour. The director of the program, Amy Anwyl, is the daughter of the late Ron Lapierre, a former club member and president.

In a note to the Exchange Club, Amy shared the following reflection of the event:

“The Greater Newburyport Exchange Club has been a supportive friend to the participants at Sarah’s Place Adult Day Health Center for the past 26 years! This trip is a highlight of the year! This gift you give our participants is truly profound! We all remember things emotionally, so when we experience a profound emotion, it is imprinted on our memory. Many of our participants have memory deficits and thus have difficulty recalling recent events. One of the best parts of the day is when participants return to the program and they can’t stop talking about the ‘trip at sea”. Their experience is so profound they can share their experiences with their peers, staff, family members and friends. Their excitement and enthusiasm of the day is contagious, not just for the day, but for days! Thank you for this incredible gift.”
